IT'S OFFICIAL : SIR PATRICK STEWART
Posted by Captain T'Anyel (Enterprise LT commander) at Jun 2 2010, 10:38 AM. 48 comments
Patrick Stewart has been upgraded from captain - to knight.
The actor - famous for playing Capt. Jean-Luc Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" - officially became Sir Patrick Stewart when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
While "Star Trek" introduced him to a different group of fans, Stewart is also a widely respected stage actor.
The 69-year-old actor discovered the theater as a child, and said "my heroes were Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Alec Guinness." Being "in that company is the grandest thing that has professionally happened to me."
Stewart joined Britain's storied Royal Shakespeare Company in his 20s, and in 2008 was nominated for a Tony award for the leading role in "Macbeth."
CONGRATULATIONS SIR CAPTAIN PICARD!!

April 27, 2010 : Canadian actor, recording artist and author William Shatner, world famous for the iconic portrayal of James T. Kirk, captain of the starship USS Enterprise is selling his custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle as part of an auction of Star Trek memorabilia.
Along with his motorcycle he will also be selling his Golden Globe nomination certificate and his Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque as part of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's auction.
Shatner, who plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Hollywood Charity Horse Show, which helps handicapped children, said that he doesn't mind parting with his mementos and would do anything to benefit his chosen charities.
Roddenberry's auction will also have his own studio pass, hand-annotated scripts and costumes from the show. These items will be among the other stuffs available at the June 27 auction at Planet Hollywood
Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, administered by Julien's Auctions. Proceeds will benefit the Roddenberry Foundation, which makes grants to support children, education and the environment.
The original Star Trek debuted in 1966 and ran for three seasons, following the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise.
Shatner said that collection will be very meaningful to Trek fans, who loved and appreciated it for decades.
