season two

The Search pt 1

Sisko arrives with the Defiant and they head into the gamma quadrant looking for the founders

Well the season starts out upholding my theory that the focus of the series has shifted from being about building community and relations between the characters and is now action driven. Quark's ties with the the gamma quadrant end up to be quite useful. I have my doubts however that the command crew of the space station would just up and leave on a war ship. Especially one that they have never flown before. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to arrive with a crew, have sisko and a couple others there for advisors and still leave the station with some senior staff? After all, it is still under threat. And the only new crew member we see is the navigator who isn't seen till he is dead on the floor in his red shirt.

I can only hope that the wierd tangent of Odo taking Kira and leaving to find his homeworld somehow is tied into the second half of the episode

oh and liked Sisko's new hair, didn't like Dax's

officially old

The character focus is still there but the series needed a little kick in the guts which both the eps

the JemHadar and the Search

The Search part 2 does have a lot to do with Odo , plus a little twist.

Almighty is right. The same types of DS9 episodes that you are used to still come up a lot in the ongoing series. It goes back and forth between those episodes and the action episodes. Big action episodes always occur on the season finales and season premiers.

Sisko and Kira don't typically go on Defiant missions together. One usually stays behind on the station.

This first mission was important for both of them to be onboard. Sisko was the representative of the Federation trying to make peace with the Dominion, Kira was the rep from Bajor who's space gets violated anytime a Dominion ship comes through the wormhole. Plus, it's Sisko's warship. He designed it so he knows more about it than anyone else. He would have to be there during the first real mission.

I really liked having the Romulan female onboard monitoring the cloaking device. It added a whole new dynamic to the crew conversation.

no spoilers :p

No, she doesn't stick around. But the cloaking device does. I never liked that plot hole actually. The Romulans all of a sudden trust the Federation enough to give them cloaking technology without an agent monitoring?

yeah they made a big deal about how they didn't want the federation to know how it works.

No need for explanation
Jadzia's pony-tail will more or less stick through to the rest of the show from here on out. The only one whose hair changes from season to season (and I even think within seasons) is Kira's

and I always hate it.

As for the Defiant, that ship is a work in progress and will keep Miles busy for a while
