I have sprint and have recently upgraded to a plan that allow unlimited text and picture messages. It seems though every month I have small charges for data usage on my bill. I know we are not using any internet features on the phone but with Sprint (I don't know about other carriers) picture mail can only be sent or received by the phone connecting to the internet. Is it just me or does that seem like a bunch of crap to offer me a plan where I am supposed to get free picture mail but I can't send or receive them without incurring data charges

I've used Sprint for years and never had to pay for internet data usage. What plan are you on? |

I have had sprint for years too and had texting and data blocked until September. Now we have a plan that gives us 1500 shared minutes, free nights and weekends and unlimited text and picture messages. Everytime we try to send or receive a picture message a prompt comes up that says connect to the internet? and if you click no, it cancels the whole thing. I am not referring to vast amounts of money they are charging, usually it is less than $1 altogether per month, it just makes me mad that I am being charged for something that is supposed to be free with my plan. I asked them about it and they said I was sending the messages wrong (wtf??) and they told me to go to menu-messages-picture mail-compose and do it like that but even then it still charges. Seems to me if it is supposed to be free, it should be free no matter what menu you use to send it anyway |

No need for explanation

Im pretty pissed about the new legislation that got passed in September that says for any carier, if someone purchases a "smartphone", they have to buy into the Data plan. I think thats bullshit. I should be able to buy whatever phone I want and still be able to use it as a personal organizer/planner, etc. without using any of the features that would require a data plan. This is just their way of trying to get you buy data service....and naturally, virtually any phone that has built-in wifi capability, is considered a "smartphone" but wifi would let you do almost anything a data plan would allow you to do, without actually needing a data plan - you just need access to a wifi hotspot and you're good to go with email, web, etc. So they are getting around people using wifi in that manner without paying for data, just by making people buy it for their smartphones. |
