So i just read this at Trekmovie.com

http://trekmovie.com/2009/11/23/read-the-star-trek-2009-scene-written-for-william-shatner/

I think it was a good idea to cut it (Shatner probably wouldnt have done it anyway) and the ending worked well for me

What do you guy's think?

Havn't read the article yet but have to say I'm glad they left him out.
I still check the boards over at ST.com but lately its like beer and chips without the beer and the big chips are all gone. - Kang

If you go to the link it actually explains it all.

It's more of a cameo voiceover than anything else but.

I liked the scene but it didn't feel right

It's something that may have worked in generations but not now

it's ok. i like the movie better without it though.

I don't like the stuff where he's talking about when they first came on board the enterprise as kids though. He shouldn't reference any of that part of timeline so as not to confuse people into thinking they are the same.

Also don't like the Kobayashi Maru medal part. There's no place for that during that ceremony.

For the Kobayashi Maru i agree but i think he may have remembered them as kids on the Enterprise

Remember Kirk to Scotty in Generations

Kirk "I was never that young"

Scotty "No ... you were younger"

It's hard to gauge fan reaction to a scene that wasn't in the film.
It might have made a nice addition to the DVD Extras.

Not seen the movie yet, but glad it isn't in; too many movies with Shatner doing a V.O. ending.

Shatner/ Kirk getting a medal for his actions in the Kobyashi Maru is right out of TWOK.

They did not need Shatner in Trek XI but it would have been nice if they could have had him in it
