Klingons!!!!

I love klingons. :allteeth:

So the episode didn't start well as far as I was concerned. Sisko and the captain chick on a date. Some of the most painfull attempts at sexy banter ever filmed. Fortunately it didn't last long and we moved right along. To KLINGONS!!!!!

Love loved loved Warf's appearance. The way he was brought on board was totally within the context of the show and the movies. Didn't feel contrived at all. Loved the similarities between his story and Odo's. Gave them a connection right off the bat. And brought to mind instantly what he was going through for viewers who may not have been watching tng. ( it could happen :P) Loved the instant connection between him and dax.

The klingons leaving the federation was a complete surprise to me. I had no idea it was coming. And the element of surprise was one of the best things about this episode. You normally have a pretty good idea where a trek episode is going to end up. I was pretty unsure about this one. Perhaps an indication of the direction of the rest of the show. It is going into new territory.

This episode had all the elements I complained were missing in past openers. It was gripping, the battle scenes were fabulous and not dragged down by a back story that didn't belong in the episode. It was emotional and it was funny. Kira in the holosuite. Worf: nice....... hat. Quark and Garack discussing rootbeer: Quark "it is sweet and bubbly and fun" Garack "like the federation" Love the way this show gives us the outsider's view of the federation.

Other things to love:

the way they used Garrack to warn the cardassians.

The open ended questions: is the dominion infiltrating any governments? will the klingons continue to expand their empire?

the chick captain doesnt' know when she will be back.

small quibbles

The hand to hand battles with the klingons. It should have been a little more difficult for mere humans to defeat a freaking klingon with a batleth. And kira taking on two? please. And they were chatting with each other while they did it. Should have at least taken a little concentration.

new hair

sisko: good

bashir: good

kira: longer and softer, yet still not anymore attractive.

I still check the boards over at ST.com but lately its like beer and chips without the beer and the big chips are all gone. - Kang

Tribbles are surprisingly warm when around the penis region, But they wont normally put out unless they have the threat of death. - fleshandblood
That's looks so disgusting I would definately have to taste it! - Joy

Now is when you will see how DS9 comes out as some of the best trek ever done in all the genres. If you thought these space battles were good, the ones in season 6 will make this look like a bunch of kids having a squabble in the park.

From here on out is what solidifies the whole series

I really like when Sisko brings out the big guns in this episode. It's the first time we get to see all of the upgrades to the station's weapons that have been getting installed since the discovery of the Dominion. Station took on a whole Klingon fleet!!!!

OMG that was heartbreaking. I cried through the whole thing. Cirroc Lofton did a fabulous job. I found the old guy to be a little off putting though. They didn't do a great job of the makeup. Might of been better if they had just gotten another actor. The older nog was the best though. He looked completely comfortable in that captains chair.

Just a little trivia for any who might have missed it...

The actor who plays old Jake was the same actor who plays Worf's brother, Kurn
