It reminded me of the same episode. At least with Picard's we sought out new life and new civilizations. Didn't learn anything about the species that held O'brien. And I thought the same thing when he was fine and on duty the next episode. |

the muse Jake meets a psychic vampire and Odo and Lwaxana get married. I rolled my eyes when this one started. Two of my least favourite things, Jake meeting a girl and Lwaxana being melodramatic. But I enjoyed it quite a bit. The vampire was pretty creepy and jake didn't talk much And the look on odo's face when he felt the baby move was worth an entire episode in itself. Them playing hide and go seek was pretty cute too. And the wedding ceremony was touching and convincing. I was dispointed when she leftand I can't I've ever felt that way about that character before. that scene in quarks' when she has everyone so depressed that wurf wanted to go for a walk with odo was hysterical. Oh and that outfit she wore in the last scene was very pretty. The rest looked like bathrobes or little house in the prairie castoffs. |

I like Hard Time and TNG's Inner Light. True, they probably woud be basket cases after enduring those tings, but we dont know how much time passed between episodes ... could be anywhere from 6 minutes to 6 months for all we know. Im sure some form of therapy was exercised |

For the Cause So as usual before I write anything I take a quick look at the synopsis at st.com to check spellings and such. Imaging my surprise when it mentions nothing about the brilliant sub plot in this episode. This is the first episode to have Ziyal in it since she arrived at the station. The meeting between her and Garak was charming. I loved the way he asked her if she was going to hurt him. I thought it was just a ruse to let her know that he was no threat to her. I laughed when she told him later she was thinking of killing him. Guess I don't know the cardassians well enough. I look forward to a friendship between the two. On to the main story. Kassidy is a smuggler! Didn't see that coming. Or Eddington. Loved the way he manipulated everythone without them suspecting a thing. Right up till they got to the station I suspect. The caution in approaching Sisko about his suspicions was perfect. I imagine Odo is kicking himself for not figureing it out. And I loved the message from Eddington in the end. This is the only franchise in star trek to openly question the wonderfullness of the federation. Two little quibbles. The scene where Sisko asks Kassidy to go to risa with him is totally out of place. And that bit at the end where he says he will wait for her. I don't know if a career officer would be that committed to someone who was now an enemy of the federation. |

oh yes, a very great episode for sure! You make a good point about the Federation, I always assumed that every human was automatically a part of the Federation. Never even considered people would willingly leave it. But these people have, and with good reason. I didn't like Sisko begging her to go to Risa either. It was kind of the wrong thing to do as an officer. Trying to keep someone from getting in trouble, even though you know they've already done wrong. Trying to keep her from getting caught is not cool. And she isn't an actual member of the Maquis, she just supplied them with food and medical supplies and good shit like that. So technically she's not a terrorist herself so she isn't an actual enemy of the Federation. I was always pissed that she snuck her crew off the ship before turning herself in...that's pretty low. |

someone who supplies terrorists with what they need is no better than a terrorist. |

This episode really shows Sisko as a different kind of Starfleet officer He believes in the Federation and what it stands for but he's more concerned with personal honour and family above all other things |
